Waialae Nui man accused of hate crime fit to stand trial

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsnow) - A judge determined on Tuesday that a Waialae Nui man accused of a hate crime is fit stand trial.

Thomas Fiust's trial was continued to Jan. 12, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. before Judge Richard Perkins. On Jan. 12, it is presumed that Judge Perkins will set a trial date.

According to court documents, Fiust left a message on a neighbor's phone threatening to kill the man and his family because they were Jewish.
