AFGHANISTAN (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Department of Defense says Cpl. Sean M. Collins was killed in the Kandahar Province when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device.
Collins, of Ewa Beach, was 25 years old and assigned to the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
According to the War on Terror News website, Collins' awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Support Medal, Army Service Medal and the NATO Medal.
Collins is survived by his father Patrick Collins and mother Linda Collins.
Five other soldiers were also killed in the attack.
