3 Halawa prison guards fired for allegedly beating inmate

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Three prison guards at Halawa Correctional Facility have been fired for allegedly beating an inmate.

Darren Kaneaiakala, Puifatu Fiso Jr. and Allen Tevaga were terminated after allegedly assaulting inmate Joseph Tui in a cell on June 16 of last year.

The attack was caught on surveillance video.

It shows a guard kicking Tui in the head as he lay on the ground.

All three have pleaded no contest in the assault.
