District one mail-in ballots due this month

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The ballots for the Honolulu City Council's open seat are out to voters. It's a mail-in special election.

Fourteen candidates are running for the remainder of Todd Apo's term, which ends in January of 2013.

The Leeward district includes the Ewa, Kapolei, Nanakuli, and Waianae areas. Ballots must be received by the city clerk no later than 6 p.m. on December 29, 2010. The results will be out later that night.
