HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A new study says Hawaii is the fifth healthiest state in the country.
According to America's Health Rankings, only Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut are healthier.
The study says our strengths include low rates of cancer and cardiovascular deaths.
It also says 15 percent of Hawaii's population smokes cigarettes, and 23 percent are obese.
One big number to keep an eye on is the percentage of children in poverty.
In the past five years, it has doubled to 19 percent.
