PEARL HARBOR (HawaiiNewsNow) - Dec. 7, 1941 is the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor.
On that Sunday, 2,403 Americans died and 21 ships were sunk or damaged.
The attack triggered America's entrance into World War II.
The lives lost and the significance of that day will never be forgotten.
Ceremonies began Tuesday at around 7:40 a.m., which was near the time of the attack.
Events will be tied into the grand opening and dedication of a new $56 million visitor center.
