Paramedics implement new policy for heart attack patients

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - You now have a better chance of surviving a heart attack if you live on Oahu.

A new policy requires Honolulu paramedics to take patients directly to facilities with specialized emergency treatment.

Previously, EMS took patients to the nearest medical facility.

But city emergency services changed their rules after new research showed specialized care saves more lives.
