HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

The holidays are here early for the University of Hawaii football team. After saying goodbye to the team's seniors after a 59-21 win over UNLV, U-H has risen to its highest ranking this season in the national college football polls. U-H debuted at 24th in the latest BCS standings. Hawaii also moved up a spot to 24 in the Associated Press poll and are 25th in the coaches poll.

Speaking of football, Texas Christian University is having a great season; still unbeaten and preparing to join the Big East Conference. To celebrate, TCU is remodeling their stadium. Demolishing the old is the first step in the $105 million modernization of the on-campus venue. It took only 30 seconds for the entire structure to come down.

And in Japan, a unique contest was held over the weekend to find the best "shovel guitar" player. About 120 aspiring musicians went shovel-to-shovel to see who was best. The rules were simple.. the guitar had to be made from a shovel and the musician had to play it with a bottle opener or spoon.
