WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A water main break snarled traffic on Kuhio Avenue Friday afternoon near Namahana Street. The Honolulu Board of Water Supply said the break in the eight-inch main occurred at around 2:15 p.m., sending water gushing into the street. The Board said a mix of 30 high- and low-rise buildings were without water.
Officials closed Kuhio at Kalakaua Avenue for several hours while crews worked to fix the problem. All but one lane of Kuhio was reopened shortly before 6 p.m. Repairs were expected to continue through Friday night.
