Officials from several federal agencies have traveled to Hawaii to join hundreds of guests at the Papahanaumokuakea World Heritage Inscription Ceremony today. The marine national monument will join 911 World Heritage Sites in 151 countries. This is the second site in Hawaii to be inscribed. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park was added to the list in 1987.
Governor Linda Lingle will attend a groundbreaking on Maui this afternoon. This is for a new ferry terminal and pier improvements at the Maalaea Small Boat Harbor. The project will also upgrade utilities, parking and utilities.
After entertaining audiences around the world, Sailesh will be performing at Pipeline Cafe Hawaii tonight and tomorrow. The hypnotist promises to mesmerize crowds. We'll see what happens when he stops by our studio.
The executive chef from the Kahala Hotel & Resort will take over our kitchen this morning. He'll tell us about the "Island Harvest" buffet featuring dishes using fresh ingredients from the Big Island, Oahu, Maui and Kauai.
