Good Things: December 2, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Christmas came a little early for some kids in Tokyo. They got a visit from the man in red. Santa greeted the children in their kindergarten classroom and passed out gifts. In return, the children sang Christmas songs and offered Jolly Ole Saint Nick pictures they had drawn. When it was time for Santa to leave, the children came out on their school balcony to bid him goodbye.

A New York State woman received another type of Christmas gift - a wedding proposal. Joe Choiniere planned the surprise for his high school sweetheart, Dana Johnson. He decorated his front yard with lights, including a glowing sign asking Johnson to marry him. After 7 years of dating Joe was pretty sure she would say yes and she did.

And every dog has its day, including this Jack Russell Terrier named Fiji. The dog was trapped beneath rocks along a San Diego beach. Rescuers worked tirelessly for hours, even calling in the bomb squad and their fiber optic camera. Fiji was cold and frightened, but a quick check by a veterinarian showed she was in fine shape.
