KAILUA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday morning where they found an unrecognizable body.

It happened at 6:45 a.m. on Auloa Road on the mauka side of Castle Junction.

Fire crews put out the flames just after 7:05 a.m.

The car is described as a gray four-door sedan hatchback.

"Upon extinguishing the fire, they discovered the remains of a person in the driver's seat. The rest will be pending investigation," HPD Homicide Lt. David Kamai said.

Police are investigating how the person died and what caused the fire.

They have not ruled out foul play.
