Geologists to assess lava on Big Island

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Wednesday morning, geologists from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory will make aerial observations of a lava flow on the Big Island.

Lava destroyed a home in the Kalapana Gardens subdivision last week.

But now scientists say that flow has stopped and no other homes appear to be in danger.

A new breakout higher on the Pali apparently drained significant amounts of lava from the tube system.
