HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Governor-elect Neil Abercrombie added two more nominees to his cabinet Tuesday.
Abercrombie nominated Kalbert Young as director of the Department of Budget and Finance and state Sen. Dwight Takamine as director of Labor and Industrial Relations.
On Monday, Abercrombie nominated William Aila to head the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Jodie Maesaka-Hirata, public safety director, Richard Lim for the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism and Alapaki Nahalea for the Department of Hawaiian Homelands.
Senate president-elect Shan Tsutsui released the following statement:
"I want to congratulate Senator Dwight Takamine on his appointment and acknowledge the many years of service that have prepared him for this new and exciting chapter in his professional life. Dwight's twenty-six years of public service as a legislator, serving in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, in conjunction with his commitment to helping others through his work as a labor attorney and involvement in community activities, make him an ideal candidate for this esteemed position. Dwight is a man of great principles and values. I am proud to have served as his colleague and, along with my fellow Senators, will miss his wisdom and calming presence. The people of Hawaii are privileged that a man of his experience and dedication has and will continue with his career in public service. On behalf of the Senate, I offer him best wishes and look forward to working with him in his new capacity with the Abercrombie administration."
Abercrombie has 10 more cabinet positions to fill, including Attorney General, Department of Health and Transportation Department.
