Maui Mayor Arakawa appoints public works chief

HONOLULU (AP) - Maui Mayor-elect Alan Arakawa has named former county public works director David Goode to his old position.

The appointment, which requires city council approval, was announced Tuesday.

Goode served as deputy director and director of the county Public Works Department between 1995 and 2002. He currently is president of KSD Hawaii, a real estate development and consulting company.

Arakawa also tapped Rowena Dagdag-Andaya as Goode's deputy director.

She now is a second grade teacher at Kahului School and formerly was a planner for Munekiyo & Hiraga, a planning and project management consulting firm.
