Maui Electric Company worker shocked in explosion

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui Electric Company worker is in stable condition after he was shocked in an electrical explosion Monday afternoon.

Maui police say a 59-year-old Kihei man was working on overhead power lines on Lahainaluna Road fronting Kelawea Mauka Park when the explosion occurred.

The man sustained injuries to the face and chest area.

He was then taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center.

The cause of the explosion is unknown.
