Good Things: November 29, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

In India, villages worked hard over the weekend to free a young elephant that had become trapped in a large hole. Before the villagers arrived, reports say the mother of the calf and other elephants from the herd made several attempts to rescue the calf, but failed. Forest Rangers used a backhoe and got the little guy out. After checking his condition, he was reunited with his herd.

Girl Scout cookies are definitely a Good Thing. Hawaii Girl Scouts have started going door-to-door selling advance tickets for their famously delicious cookies. By selling tickets, buyers will be able to pick up their cookies in mid-January, earlier than in any other state. And the scouts don't have to lug all those boxes around Hawaii neighborhoods. Hawaii's Girl Scouts are the only scouts in the nation offering advance tickets for those tasty cookies.

If you had one chance to hit a half-court basketball shot for a brand new care, could you do it? John Guth did. He nailed a half-court shot during halftime at the Kings versus Bulls game over the weekend and won an early Christmas present for himself.
