WAIKELE & AIEA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Black Friday craze begins.  It's still a day away but mobs of bargain hunters are already raiding the stores, even if they're not open yet.

As usual, the Waikele premium outlets is where much of the holiday shopping buzz is.  But this season?  Something unexpected.

At Sketchers, the assistant manager tells us they're already seeing Black Friday crowds.  She says shoppers have been there all morning, and some were even shaking the door before the store opened at 9.  At noon, employees did their sales reading.  They say they're already at the halfway mark of where they're supposed to be at the end of the day.

Sketchers assistant manager Raymie Lau beamed, "It's crazy today.  We didn't expect it to be this busy at all.  We were expecting we could still work on some stuff for tomorrow.  I'm a little surprised.  Everyone told me it was going to be really slow today but we're already way ahead."

At Toys ‘R' Us in the Pearlridge Shopping Center, one family we spoke with says they've been in line since 8:30 last night.  They say they even put up a tent but a supervisor came out and told them to take it down.

Pearlridge says Toys ‘R' Us is the first store at the mall to open for Black Friday.  People can start shopping there at 10 o'clock tonight.
