Kamehameha Schools offers to build community park in Haleiwa

HALEIWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - There now appears to be a battle of the lands in Haleiwa.

Kamehameha Schools is offering to build a community park on two acres, just mauka of Haleiwa Beach Park, right next to Jameson's Restaurant.

A third acre would include educational, interactive displays and access to the Loko Ea Fish Pond.

In September, Andy Anderson pitched a controversial plan to build a new hotel in the same area, which created a community uproar.
