HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Former University of Hawaii quarterback Colt Brennan, his girlfriend and another driver remained in hospitals Saturday following a car crash in Kona Friday morning.
Officials flew Brennan to Queen's Medical Center in serious condition Friday, but the hospital said he was upgraded to stable condition Saturday. Brennan was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his girlfriend, Shakti Stream, who was still listed in serious condition at Kona Community Hospital. The driver of the other vehicle was med-evaced to Queen's and was last listed in serious condition. Her identity has not been released.
A witness who arrived on the scene within seconds of the crash described what he saw.
"Boom. All of a sudden there was a couple semis and about -- I think I counted about six cars," said Kona resident Tim Orr. "There was people just passing everybody on the right hand side. Some people trying to stop on the right hand lane, and then other people going around them. It was just a big scene."
Orr said about a dozen people stopped to help at the scene, but none of them knew Brennan was one of the victims at the time.
