KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police have charged 62-year-old Gene Craig Wells in connection with a double stabbing, including one that was fatal.
On Thursday, police charged Wells with second-degree murder and second-degree assault.
The stabbings happened just after 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at a condominium in the Seaview subdivision.
Police arrived to the scene where they determined two men were stabbed during an altercation with Wells. The three men are residents of the condominium.
One of the victims, 57-year-old Edward Wanat, was stabbed in the chest and abdomen several times. The other victim is Wanat's son, 25-year-old Andrew Wanat. He sustained cuts to his hands, arms, shoulder and face.
Both victims were transported to Kona Community Hospital, where Edward Wanat later died.
Andrew Wanat remains at the hospital in stable condition.
Wells bail is set at $260,000.
