HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An elderly Honolulu woman who died after a pedestrian accident in Nuuanu on Friday has been identified. The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office said the woman was Fung Ha Chen, 82. Police said Chen was in a marked crosswalk near the intersection of Nuuanu Avenue and Kauila Street when she was struck by a car.
Chen was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but her condition worsened after her arrival. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Investigators have opened a negligent homicide case in the crash. There's no word if speed or alcohol were involved in the crash. Chen's death is Oahu's 51st traffic fatality so far this year.
