MoHS students compete in Brown Bags to Stardom

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Brown Bags to Stardom program helped launch the careers of entertainers like Tia Carrere and Na Leo Pilimehana.

And on Friday, some students competed for a chance to follow in their footsteps.

On Friday morning, students at Moanalua High School performed in a talent contest.

The winner, a four member dance group called "LMDK," will compete in the Brown Bags state finals next year.

The participants showed off their skills in front of more than 2,000 fellow students.

"I like performing in front of people, but small crowds, not a good thing, but when there's a big crowd in front of me, I let loose," Moanalua High School sophomore Alika Kim said.

"I love the fact that it's been something that me and my sister have done all of our lives, we've always sang together," Moanalua High School senior Mary Fran Donnelly said.

Brown Bags is also giving away a customized car as part of a fundraiser for cheerleaders.
