HONOLULU (AP) - Gov.-elect Neil Abercrombie has named the founder of a Maui-based events and record production firm as the coordinator of his inaugural events.
In a statement Thursday, Abercrombie's transition office announced that Karey Oura Kapoi will oversee the events.
She is the founder of Island Soul Entertainment and also was the Maui coordinator for Abercrombie's gubernatorial campaign.
Kapoi also founded and coordinated the Willie K Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Maui Memorial Medical Center, and helped start The Pink CD project that benefits breast cancer education programs run by the hospital's foundation.
Abercrombie's noon swearing in is slated for Dec. 6 at Iolani Palace.
