HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With Secretary of State Clinton's visit and the APEC conference coming here next year, we're again hearing talk of Hawaii as the conference capital of the Pacific. The gathering place for East and West. And It's all good.
Our Central location makes Hawaii a great place for professional conferences of this caliber. They draw more delegates from around the entire Pacific Rim when they meet here.
But let's not take that for granted that everyone will find our home congenial.
Our diverse backgrounds make this a special place. But how much do we really know about our own melting pot that makes us appropriate for these kinds of conferences?
This isn't just something unique to Hawaii. It's our entire country's challenge.
If we want to be understood and appreciated, we can start by learning more about the rest of the world, becoming more worldly in a good sense.
Then maybe we can take our hospitality to a whole new level.
