BOULDER, Colorado (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kailua Native Brian Cabral was once considered a candidate for the University of Hawaii Head Coaching football team, now he's getting a shot at leading the Colorado Buffalos...again.

The line backers coach was named the interim coach by Colorado Athletic Director Mike Bohn Tuesday after Dan Hawkins was fired.

In five seasons, Hawkins compiled a 19-39 record, including a 3-6 mark this season.

Cabral is Colorado's longest tenured assistant coach serving 21-years with the school.
