Man who drowned at Makaha Beach identified

MAKAHA BEACH (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man in his 60s who died after he was caught in a riptide at Makaha Beach Tuesday has been identified.

A medical examiner has identified the man as 60-year-old Harold Huber of Texas.

According to Emergency Medical Services, a family member retrieved the Huber from the water and performed CPR on him until medical crews arrived to the scene.

Huber was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The medical examiner says the cause of death was asphyxia due to drowning.

Huber also suffered from cardiomegaly, a condition in which the heart is enlarged.
