Good Things: November 8, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

A new statue of Jesus Christ was presented to the public in Poland over the weekend. At 118 feet, the enormous monument stands taller than the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro. Local residents had mixed opinions during the construction of the monument, but now many firmly back the project as more tourists are coming to their hometown.

We just finished celebrating Halloween, but in Chicago they are prepping for Christmas. Former American Idol Katharine McPhee kicked off the holiday season at Macy's with a lighting of their holiday tree. Plenty of children and parents were present for the lighting. Mayor Richard Daley also joined in on the fun. The great tree features 10,000 LED sparkling lights and more than 2,000 ornaments.

A Maryland sisterhood of nuns has just sold the "Holy Grail" of baseball cards. They auctioned off a 1909 card of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner for $250,000.  It's one of only about 60 in existence. The rare card originally belonged to the brother of a deceased nun. The sisters say they will give the money to the many charities they support.
