Child who drowned in Hawaii Kai swimming pool identified

HAWAII KAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The child who died after she was found face down in her family's swimming pool has been identified.

A medical examiner has identified the girl as three-year-old Maile Elizabeth Schroeder-Hill of Mililani.

Emergency crews arrived at her family's Hawaii Kai home on Niumalu Loop just after 8:00 a.m. Sunday, and found family members performing CPR on the little girl.

The girl was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where she died a short time after.

According to officials, the cause of death was asphyxiation due to drowning. The manner of death has been ruled as an accident.
