Big Island fire crews rescue homes near Waimea

WAIMEA, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island fire crews have saved at least twenty homes from a brush fire just west of Waimea.

The blaze broke out about noon Friday, burning over 130 acres. We're told the flames burned down a greenhouse, two storage sheds and a farm structure.

Officials say they have the fire surrounded, but it's not yet contained.

The Hawaii Fire Department says they expect to be working on this fire for the next few days.
