HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An Oahu grand jury has returned a murder indictment against a 59-year-old homeless man.
David Orpin is accused of beating another homeless man, 70-year-old Arthur Martinez, to death on Oct. 27.
Martinez was found unresponsive in the parking lot of St. Pius Catholic Church.
Orpin turned himself in at the main police station at 1:40 that morning.
Since Martinez was older than the age of 60, Orpin's murder charge carries the state's harshest sentence: life in prison without the possibility of parole.
