KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police have charged a Washington state man in connection with Kailua-Kona truck robbery that happened Monday night.

On Wednesday, detectives charged 41-year-old Christopher James Roberg with first-degree robbery, kidnapping, third-degree assault, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle and two counts of terroristic threatening.

According to a Hawaii County police report, Roberg was driving on Alii Drive near White Sands Beach Park when he pulled in front a 21-year-old woman driving pickup truck and stopped. He then got out the car and tried to remove the woman's key from the ignition.

Roberg reportedly pulled the woman's hair and removed personal items from the cab of her truck. He then threatened her with a knife and baseball bat.

Roberg took off when another car approached the scene, but police located and arrested him at the intersection of Palani Road and Kuakini Highway.

Roberg is being held at $132,000 bail.
