Andy Irons' family releases statement

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Irons family released a statement Thursday regarding the death of their beloved Andy Irons.

"The Irons family would like to sincerely thank everyone on our home island of Kauai, and throughout the Hawaiian Islands, who has showered us with condolences and prayers during this tragic and difficult time.

The outpouring of love for Andy has brought solace to the family, confirmed that we are part of a much larger Hawaiian ohana, and helped us begin to endure what feels like an unendurable loss. It is such a long road and we aren't sure how to take the next step, but we will. We ask for respect of our family's need to grieve privately and in our own time as we begin this journey.

A trust will soon be established in Andy's name to support his son, due to be born in December."

-Phil Irons, Andy's father
