KULANI (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Thursday, the Hawaii National Guard's Youth Challenge Academy opened a second facility on the Big Island in Kulani.
The new campus will double the number of youth served to over 400 per year.
About 3,000 cadets have graduated from the program since 1994.
The 17-month program based on military values is designed to help at-risk youth obtain a high school diploma and develop skills to be successful in the community.
