BOE to consider A-Plus fee hike Thursday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thursday, the Board of Education will consider increasing the month fee for the A-Plus after-school program by $25.

The Department of Education says the hike is necessary to offset the cuts to the department's budget.

If the proposal passes, the monthly fee for the program for a single child would climb to $80 per month. The fee for a second child from the same family would be $75.

The department wants the higher rates to go into effect in January.
