HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The students at Central Middle School showed up early for school Wednesday morning with an important message for drivers... slow down!
The kids teamed up with parents, teachers and Honolulu police officers to encourage drivers to obey traffic laws, especially near schools.
Just last year, a pedestrian was hit by a car on busy Queen Emma Street, right in front of the campus.
"It was to have drivers be aware that the need to slow down because in recent years some accidents have been happening so we want to prevent them from happening," Central Middle School Student Body President Asayena Viengmany said.
This area has taken things a step further, installing street signs in several different languages including Chinese, Korean, Thai and Micronesian.
