High surf warning for north and west facing shores

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service says there's a high surf warning for north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai, and for north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui.

The NWS says the high surf warning will remain in effective from 4:00 p.m. Monday until 4:00 p.m. Thursday.

There's also a high surf advisory for west facing shores of Oahu and for north facing shores of the Big Island effective 4:00 p.m. Monday.

Surf along north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai, and along north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui will reach between eight and 12 feet late Monday afternoon.

Surf will peak on Tuesday with heights between 25 and 35 feet.

The NWS says a high surf warning indicates that dangerous and battering waves will strike the shoreline, resulting in danger swimming conditions and deadly rip currents.
