4 people injured after 'whirlwind' hits Mauna Kea Beach Hotel

KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii County fire officials said four people experienced minor injuries after a strong gust of wind struck the Mauna Kea Hotel Wednesday.

It happened just after 2:00 p.m. in the beach area of the hotel property.

According to officials, the "whirlwind" flipped over several lounge chairs, cabanas and the lifeguard tower.

Fire crews transported two people to the emergency room with minor injuries.

Two other people with minor injuries left the scene without being treated.
