HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

The University of Hawaii wants you to get out and vote. The "Use Your Voice, Use Your Vote" rally will be held today at Hawaii Hall from 11:30am to 1:00pm. The program calls on students, faculty and staff to reverse a statewide trend in low voter turnout. There will be live music, information and voter registration booths.. plus prize giveaways. The event is free and open to the public.

The Pearl City High School Marching Band has been invited to participate in the London New Year's Day Parade. The former "Lord Mayor" of the city of Westminster will travel to Oahu to deliver the official invite next week. The London New Year's Day Parade is one of the largest in the world, featuring 10,000 performers from across the globe.

Every dog has its day.. and that was certainly the case at the First Annual Weiner Dog Races in Beaumont, Texas. The even benefited the Alzheimer's Association. Diagnostic Health invited wiener dogs and their owners to a costume contest and dog race. Sixteen wiener dogs and their owners participated.
