Hawaii-based soldier from Calif. dies from wounds

HONOLULU (AP) - A Hawaii-based soldier from California has died after a noncombat incident in Afghanistan.

The Pentagon says Staff Sgt. Aracely Gonzalez O'Malley of Brawley, Calif. died Friday at Homburg, Germany from injuries sustained in the Oct. 12 incident at Mazar-e Sharif.

The military says O'Malley was assigned to the 307th Integrated Theater Signal Battalion, 516th Signal Brigade, 311th Signal Command at Schofield Barracks.

O'Malley was 31 years old.
