Charter school enrollment gets a bump

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Enrollment in public schools is dropping slightly, but charter schools are seeing a bump. That's according to the Department of Education today.

Charters gained 400 more students this year, bringing enrollment to 8200 kids.

That's up nearly 5%. The biggest school district is the Leeward coast on Oahu. Its charter school, Kamaile Academy, is the biggest in the state with about one thousand students.
