HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Consumers in Hawaii have a brand new way to save and already, in just its first week, it's a big hit.

The service is called Groupon. It is an online coupon web site for the masses.

Consumers can go to, click on a city, in this case Honolulu, and the deal of the day pops up. Friday's coupon offer came from Lanikai Juice. For $3 consumers can get a voucher for $6 worth of merchandise.

"We decided to go with Groupon because we found it to be the most effective way to reach a mass number of people. Groupon currently has, just in Hawaii alone, 70,000 plus people on their email list," said Sophia Pieridis, marketing manager at Lanikai Juice.

Just hours after the offer went online people had bought more than 1,000 coupons for Lanikai Juice.

"We're really really ecstatic. It's really great. This is a new concept for us. We're very pleased that we can offer our product to our current and hopefully new customers at such a great price," Pieridis said.

"I just came here just because I got the coupon. I usually come here on a random basis, not too often, but I think that if I got more coupons I'd be here all the time," said Moiliili resident Kathy Kawamura who redeemed her coupon for a large smoothie Friday.

The Lanikai Juice offer will be up at through Sunday. Next week there will be brand new offers including one from le Crepe Cafe in Manoa.
