HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Farmers Insurance Hawaii has collected more than $24,000 and 9,000 pounds of food to help feed struggling Hawaii families. They gave it to the Hawaii Foodbank, Lanakila Meals on Wheels and the River of Life Mission. The money will also help 50 students at Dole Middle School who often go without lunch.

A local couple recently marked 8 decades of wedded bliss. Ivan and Doris Nishimura celebrated their 80th anniversary back in July. The couple also is celebrating birthdays. Doris recently turned 98 and Ivan's 98th birthday is today.

It was Fall Harvest Day at the now-famous White House Garden. First Lady Michelle Obama got her hands dirty and teamed up with school children for the event. She helped the children pick fresh potatoes, pumpkins and bunches of other vegetables. Much of the food will go to soup kitchens and food banks in the D-C area.
