HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

The Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists held its Super Bowl of Pooper Scooping in San Diego, California. The event is called the Scooper Bowl.. and the fastest pooper scooper in the country wins. While it may look real, the poop used for the competition is actually fake doggy doo-doo. The 8th Annual Pooper Scooper Competition helps raise funds to buy pet air masks for local fire departments.

Major League pitcher Cliff Lee threw an 8 shutout innings against the Yankees last night. His Texas Rangers won the game 8-0. About the only mistake Lee made all night was when he almost fell off his chair while sitting down at the post game press conference. The star pitcher was okay and the Rangers lead the series 2 games to 1.

In Japan, treasures have been discovered in the trash. Several companies are involved in what's being called "urban mining" or the recycling of electrical equipment for precious and rare minerals. Besides helping the environment, the need for this type of project has grown since China, a source for many rare commodities, announced it would cut its exports by 30 percent.
