WAIMANALO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are investigating a stabbing which left a man in his 20s in the hospital Sunday.

A Waimanalo couple came home to find police investigating an attempted murder case, at their home on Oluolu Street in Waimanalo. A stabbing had occurred in their yard, around 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

They found a male in his mid twenties with a puncture wound in his chest. Detective Nevin Young said, "They discovered that one victim had been stabbed."

EMS personnel treated the victim on the scene then transported him to queens medical center.

Police located and identified an adult female who was arrested on the scene. Police say the victim is the suspect's boyfriend and the two were involved in a verbal argument which escalated, then led to the attack.

Detective Nevin Young of the Honolulu Police Department said, "It was a stabbing. Currently it's an attempted murder, second degree."

Detectives sealed off the property to conduct their investigation. Several items, including a knife, were collected from the property and taken away as evidence.

Police say neither the victim nor the suspect live at the residence.

The victim is recovering at Queens along with the suspect who is complaining of medical problems. Police will conduct interviews with her upon her release. She has not been charged yet.
