HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The suspect in Friday night's Waikiki shooting made his first court appearance Monday.
Police charged 36-year-old Reynaldo Valdez-Paz with attempted murder in the second degree.
Investigators said Valdez-Paz allegedly got into an argument with another man, Damon Jones, in a parking lot across from the Hard Rock Cafe on Kapiolani Boulevard.
According to police, a witness saw Valdez-Paz fire a shot at Jones. The witness then saw Jones drop to the ground. Valdez-Paz then fired two more shots at Jones, one in each leg.
Jones suffered a total of three gunshot wounds and was last reported in serious condition.
Valdez-Paz turned himself in to police at the Pearl City substation just after 9:00 p.m. Friday. Witnesses said the argument was apparently over a woman.
Valdez-Paz is still in police custody. His bail is set at $300,000.
