McKinley High School TB scare prompts public meeting Friday night

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - New details about a tuberculosis scare at McKinley High School.

More than 180 students and teachers will have to undergo skin tests starting next week.

The school was alerted by the Department of Health that a student was found to have active TB or tuberculosis.

Letters were sent home to parents and the student body was alerted.

"These students will be skin tested. We'll give them the TB skin test just to be on the safe side. That happens next week Tuesday. If they come out negative we do a second round of testing in December," McKinley High School principal Ron Okamura said.

The school is holding a public meeting Friday night for anyone concerned.

It will be held in the school auditorium at 7:00 p.m.
