HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Honolulu City Council approved a bill Wednesday that would ban tents and property from public sidewalks.
The measure is designed to stop the homeless from blocking sidewalks with tents, furniture and other property.
Five council members voted in favor of the bill, and four voted against it.
Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi says it's a measure to ensure rights for pedestrians using the sidewalks.
The bill goes into effect in December, if it gets approved by the mayor. Carlisle has ten days to make a decision.
