KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii (AP) - Inter-island cargo carrier Young Brothers Ltd. has asked the state Public Utilities Commission to reconsider its ruling granting Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines permission to carry cargo through the islands.
West Hawaii Today is quoting Young Brothers officials as saying if the PUC allows the ruling to stand, Hawaii residents will likely see a decrease in service and an increase in cargo costs.
The PUC has 90 days to rule on the reconsideration request that was filed last week.
Young Brothers vice president of strategic planning and government affairs, Roy Catalani, says if the PUC doesn't respond, it's considered a denial of the request. He says Young Brothers would then be able to file an appeal with the state Intermediate Court of Appeals.
