Firefighters put out 'suspicious' brush fire near H-2 freeway

WAIPIO (HawaiiNewsNow) - Another brush fire near the H-2 freeway was put out just before noon Tuesday.

It happened near Ka Uka Boulevard on the hillside next to the freeway.

Firefighters used compressed foam to put out the half-acre fire.

A Honolulu Fire Department Captain says the fire does look suspicious.

"It seems as though we are having a lot of them over here the place it started seemed suspicious like that, we have our team looking into it, but at this time we don't know how it started today. But it's been we have had a rash of these fires on the H-2 freeway," Captain Howard Naone said.

Investigators say the recent fire appears to be the work of an arsonist.
